coffee mug

Welcome!  Come on in and grab a chair, it’s beautiful morning for patio coffee.. How are you?

We are home this weekend instead of on location camping, so it’s really just been a weekend of catching up around the house. We go out two more times before the season is up and we have to winterize.  Boooo!!

Yesterday I’d had enough with my hip pain and created a makeshift standing desk in my office. Getting up repeatedly throughout the day is absolutely killing me. My sister made and sent me some awesome flaxseed therapeutic pillows that you microwave to heat up. I think they are helping. Last night I tried them as we watched TV and I was able to get up and walk periodically with little pain.

This is my first week gluten free and I THINK I might have noticed a difference. My right hip, of course is still screaming, but I’ve noticed the tightness in my lower back and hips is diminished, if not gone. ??  We’ll see. I’ll continue on. It really hasn’t been that hard to eliminate gluten, thankfully. There seem to be lots of choices out there.

It continues to be a rather sparse year for my garden, but that has been the norm for lots of folks, from what I hear in my online gardening groups. At least for my tomatoes.  The grandpeppers are doing nicely, and I hope more jalapenos come in, as I’d like to make cowboy candy.

I’m also happy to see how well my lone lavender plant is surviving. Out of 12 seed starts, two made it. This guy wasn’t doing as well as the other, and eventually the other died out. Now he’s going strong. I’ve learned to not drench them when I’m watering, as they don’t like as much water as other plants. Probably how I killed the other starts. I’ll try again next spring.

This morning I watered the garden and was delighted to see a bumble bee going from the flowers on my Hungarian wax, to my jalapenos, to my tomatoes!  Yay!  Pollinate away! I tried to get a pic but he wasn’t having it.

I have YET to start my rock tumbling adventure! Maybe I’m overthinking it. I need to just spend some uninterrupted time figuring out what I’m going to start with, and what grit I need to order. I hear there are some good YouTube videos, I probably need to start there. I think I will start with some rocks I found in some local lakes and rivers, figure out what they are, their hardness and go from there. There will be for sure before and after pics!

More coffee?

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you had a great week and I’ll be around to visit shortly! Thank you again, Natalie the Explorer, as always for hosting our Weekend Coffee Share.

  1. I got a lavender plant and placed it in the ground. Unfortunately it did not survive. I suspect it was the location because during the rainy season that section where I placed the lavender was where it receives the most water. I am still looking for a sweet spot to plant a lavender in my front yard…

    1. I’d LURVE to have lavender in my front yard landscaping! Especially what I’ve grown myself. Will definitely try again in the spring when I start my seeds.
