Good morning on this rainy Saturday! It’s supposed to clear up later but we still have 49 degrees on the patio. Cold and damp? No thanks.. Come on in and try my latest find, Golden S’mores coffee! It’s pretty good, all I really taste is just a hint of cinnamon rather than marshmallow and graham cracker..
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that yesterday was my last Lean Six Sigma class. I’m glad that milestone has been completed, but the work is just beginning. This weekend I must finish my last assignment before tackling the final exam. This has NOT been easy, not that I expected it to be or that anything worthwhile is, but I’m really struggling to stay positive.
My window garden is surviving and I’m overjoyed that my gerbera daisy reincarnated as well! A birthday gift from a dear friend, I left it on the window sill with the basil and green onions, but we had a sunny, warm day and it did it in, the stems completely flopped over. I drenched it with water and said a prayer. The next morning, it looked like the day I received it! It’s a perennial, so I’ll be planting it outside soon.
Speaking of plants, I’m going to be digging up some of my lilac shoots and giving them to some friends. They are in full bloom right now and according to Google, after they bloom and before summer is in full swing is the right time to dig them up. My Dad and sister, who are big time green thumbs, suggested I get some root tone, so we’ll see how that goes.
Upon visiting the site of my failed garden, I found my cilantro coming back! I didn’t know it was a perennial..
And!! My two irises I also received from a friend several years ago are getting ready to flower! They haven’t since I planted them, several years ago.
Tonight we are going on a ghost hunt at the Grosse Ile Historical Society! I can’t wait.. We have the early time slot, starting at 5:30pm. I’m hoping to have some good stories, photos and maybe audio to share upon our return!
I’m praying for the weather to take a turn so we can do a road trip tomorrow. It’s been a while since I’ve shared a motorcycle adventure! And today my April Twitterstone box arrived (my other subscription box addiction!) and there is lots of cool stuff to share! Stay tuned!
How was your week? Join us at Eclectic Alli’s Weekend Coffee Share and tell us about it!
Hi Kathleen,
Great to catch up again and thanks for the cup of tea. I particularly enjoyed the photos from your garden, particularly the gerberas. I went on a walk today around our local wetland park today, while our daughter was auditioning to perform Swan Lake with a local company for young people. I had my camera with me and had a ball peering through the lens at towering gums trees and capturing the brightly coloured flowers. There weren’t many flowers and it was native Australian vegetation, although there were some lovely deciduous European trees flaunting their Autumn colours. Then, just to top off a great day, our daughter made it through. Can’t wait to see her perform but that’s a way off!
Hope you have a great week, Kathleen and get off on your motorbike ride.
Best wishes,
Rowena

Haha, thank you!! Mother Nature had other plans, so we didn’t get out and ride, but hopefully soon.. Congratulations to your daughter!! I haven’t been on a photowalk lately and need to go.. Thanks for stopping by!
Beautiful colors!
Thank you!
Your plants looks great! I love lilacs. My grandma used to have them. Sounds like you had a great week! I hope your new week started out in the same awesome way!
Thanks Maria! I hope the transplanting goes well.. Have a great week!
It’s always such an exciting time, seeing what’s coming up in the garden and planting new things! Ken and I just bought each a Harlequin maple as a joint Mothers and Father’s Day gift and it looks so wonderful. Now if only the weather would warm up!

I will have to Google Harlequin Maple! We have very old silver maples in our yard and it’s helicopter season! LOL
