OK, well, the flowers are dandelions, but I’m still happy to see them. It’s a beautiful breezy day that’s finally fit for PATIO COFFEE! Thanks so much for joining me. Have a seat!
I’m most thankful for the fact that my Dad has had a pretty good week. He sounds healthy and strong on every phone call, which is so comforting. We still video chat with him twice at week with the gracious help of the activities assistant at his facility, as unfortunately, we can’t visit due to the virus. Thank you for all the good thoughts and prayers, they are so appreciated.
Contingency efforts at work still keep my attention from the detail of the new line of business I’m responsible for. So yesterday I spent at least a few hours reviewing material and getting acclimated. Today we are planning a motorcycle day trip, and the weather looks amazing! 🙂
I put my plants in! Maybe a bit too early as no sooner was I finished a friend told me we have a nasty frost coming. Sigh. So I’ll need to cover them with plastic.
I now have my one sage plant that I started from seed in the back corner (the only survivor), a patch in the middle where I sprinkled coriander seed from last year’s cilantro, and in the front corner, green onions. I snip down the ones I buy from the store then plant the ends with the roots and have green onions all summer long. My seedlings are jalapeno, green pepper and Hungarian wax pepper.
Even my foreman approved! This light overlooks the garden and this momma robin let me work without too much disapproval.
Somehow I managed to lose most of my garden staples so the bricks are there to hold down the netting on the sides. Otherwise, squirrels would dig up and destroy the seedlings before they could take root. Once I get more staples, I’ll put netting over the whole thing. The last to go in will be tomato plants, as soon as I can find them. They are sold out everywhere. I’m still watering the ones I tried to start, but they are slow to sprout.
This weekend we did another staycation as we plan for no camping until late June, which is when the Michigan State Park campgrounds open. I’m just glad we can do this much. It still feels like we got away for a bit.
I hope you had a great week! Join us over at Eclectic Ali’s and tell us about it!
While it’s not warm enough here to start planting, we’ve been tidying up the garden at any rate, and I just ordered mulch from a local store that does curbside pick-up. Glad your dad is doing well!

Ah, fresh mulch, my favorite part! I’m looking forward to putting down fresh cypress mulch..
We started getting the raised beds in order. The nights remain cold but it will get warmer (right?)
Have a great week.
Thank you Antoinette! We’ll be boating before we know it..
Your garden looks lovely! I put some of my seedlings out today; cucumber, eggplant, celery, peas and tomatoes. Your garden looks very organized and well planned! So happy to hear about your dad. I hope he continues to feel stronger. Have a fabulous new week!!
Thank you Maria! I am hopeful.. I really am happy with my little plot so far!
