brewing coffee

Good Morning friends! Come on in and make yourselves comfy. Grab a cup and let’s catch up!

I’ve been glad for the sunshine we’ve had lately, but warm temps I would normally celebrate are wreaking havoc on the winter wonderland we’ve been enjoying so much. Our snow is about gone except for where the plows piled it up, everything else has pretty much melted.

Couldn’t resist.  🙂

I remember in years past I would be so excited for the snow to be gone and to see the grass appear again. Spring was coming! But, I don’t feel the same after the several fun filled riding weekends we’ve had. I HOPE we can get one more good winter storm, but the extended forecast is not looking good. It would really take quite a bit of snow to build up the base again on the trails.

So! What’s next if our season is over? I do have several long overdue painting projects around the house that I really should just pick a weekend and force myself to get done. I also ordered a book on instructional design (not an affiliate) that I’ve recently dug into. With the snow gone, I could uncover the firepit and start up the backyard campfires again. This winter has gone fast, but that’s what having fun does!  Makes time fly.

Later today I have plans to walk with a friend at a new park, the Woodland Hills Nature Park! So far the skies are clear and I hope it stays that way. Tomorrow I will spend some time finishing prepping for a presentation I’m giving on Monday. And I still have loads of GoPro video to go through from our last trip. At least I have that to tide me over as I pray to the Snow gods.

That’s about it for this week!  Hope it’s been a good one for you and hope to see you at the Weekend Coffee Share, hosted by Natalie the Explorer!

  1. The snow is melting here as well. I hope you get to enjoy your new snowmobile a couple more times before the winter is over 🙂 Thank you for the coffee!

  2. Hi Kathleen, Your post above brought back one of my oldest memories, that of playing in the snow with my parents in the parking lot of some ski resort. My dad was off skiing at the time and my mom was keeping me occupied while holding my sister as a baby. That sister is about 2 years younger than me, so if she was 1 – 2 years old at the time, I could have been 4 at the most. What I recall, was mom giving me a cardboard box and directing me to a large pile of plowed snow that someone had carved a path in from the top down a short winding slope that finally stopped at the asphalt of the parking lot. They had also carved out steps to help small box-sledders like me climb up, position our box and make another go of that path. It was likely my first encounter with snow and I had so much fun with that little box.

Afterwards I recall sitting in the car, very wet and cold but looking out at that snow heap, longing to go back for just one more ride.

So yes, let’s do just one more snow storm to make a few more good memories of this Covid winter.

  3. When I got to Cape Cod on Wednesday there were still plenty of “plow piles”, but by the time I left last night, they were mostly gone, except for the huge parking lot piles. We still have quite a bit in NH, though not enough for a snowmobiling. Have a great week!

    1. Thanks for stopping by! Today we plan to check out a local park that allows snowmobiling if at least 4 inches. The snow is gone now, but it’s a park I’ve never been to, so it would be nice to find it and get familiar before we (hopefully) go back with the trailer to do some riding.

  4. Hi
I’ve got Spring Fever so I can’t join you in wishing for snow. But I do hope you get another chance for fun!!!
Good luck with your presentation and thanks for the coffee 💜

    1. Thank you Dinah! It went very well but I always overstress when I have to present. I don’t think I’ll ever get comfortable. We are looking at mid 60s next week! That will be nice..

  5. I’m ready for the snow to be gone! We had a very proper Northeast winter this year and it all happened in January-February. Now it’s just melting and making a big mess and is such a bother. I wouldn’t mind one more snow either but only after the mud and muck have had a chance to clear up. Of course we’ll probably get that ‘one more snow’ as we normally do in March (or even April!). I do look forward to getting more projects done too.

    1. Hi Kristin, thanks for stopping by! Yes, if it’s going to be cold, snow would be nice, otherwise the landscape is not very pretty here.

  6. You guys must really appreciate the change in seasons when you get snow like that. Here in South East Queensland our winters are very mild and our summers long.

    1. The four seasons are nice, especially when you have something fun to look forward to all year long. I used to hate winter before I got into snowmobiling.. It’s nice having something fun to do in the months I used to wish would speed by.. A long summer, though, THAT would be nice! Thanks for reading!
