Good morning and welcome back to our Weekend Coffee Share! I missed everyone last week, the first coffee share after Natalie took the torch! I have lots of catching up to do.. How’ve you all been?
We are still doing the snow dance here in Michigan and trying not to lose hope. We have about 10 weeks until the trails close on April 1st, so I’m hoping there will still be some good winter storms in the forecast. Right now we have light snow but no accumulation. Last night I had a campfire which coincided with my weekly Zoom call with my sisters and nieces, so I dialed in from my phone and caught up with family as the fire crackled and popped and light snow fell from the sky. It was cool.
Though I look like a backwoods eskimo. 🙂 I’m surprised at how much I’m enjoying Zoom. As a card-carrying introvert, I’ve always made it a point to be behind the camera and not in front of it. But it’s really been so very cool keeping in touch with family and friends this way. Especially now with my folks gone, I know that nothing would make them happier knowing we all stayed in touch. And! Next Saturday I have a Zoom call with 4 friends that I’ve known since elementary school!
Bill has been giving me drum lessons every Friday night and I think I’m getting the hang of it! I’ve been practicing songs by KISS, Judas Priest and have been working on improving my drumroll! Friends want me to post video but I’m not quite there yet.. LOL
On the minimalism front, I’ve been doing a decent job of decluttering! I replaced our living room end tables and eliminated a coffee and couch table, both which had storage, so I now have a box of stuff to go through but lots more space! I went with the cubicle type storage units from IKEA. I now have a spot for my TBR stack and reading glasses!
Today I might head back to IKEA and get a few more baskets for the one that will be replacing the couch table. These will still have storage, but LESS than the old ones. So decluttering will be necessary.
On that topic, I made the decision to cancel one of my monthly scary boxes. We just did a review on the December/January box from Creepy Crate, and I cancelled Night Worms for right now. I LOVE Night Worms, but I would rather have one at a time, not both. Perhaps down the road I’ll resubscribe to Night Worms and take a break from Creepy Crate. Having both subscriptions resulted in books piling up faster than I can read them. And as much as I love the creepy trinkets, those too accumulate and I’m trying to minimize! 🙂 So, if you haven’t already, check out our latest review!
Plans are starting to come together for a memorial service for my Dad, down in Florida. My sisters and I will be in talks over the coming days to figure out all the details. My hope is to pull our trailer down and camp at Jetty Park, an ocean front campground that has been a part of my life from the beginning! Dad took us there every summer and that’s where we stayed while my folks looks for retirement property. Lots and lots of memories there over many summers. So I thought it would be fitting to take my trailer down and stay there for the week that we have his memorial. There will be lots of planning involved in just that piece of it too so I pray that all goes well.
So! I must be going, I have many blogs to visit in our awesome coffee circle and I can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to! Thank you so much for stopping by.
Visit Natalie the Explorer and join in the conversation!
Best of luck with all your decluttering, I think it is a liberating feeling to own less. I really like all the wood in your house, such a cozy feeling. Thank you for the coffee!
Good to see you! Glad all is well in your world. I think you and I may be canceling each other out… You’re praying for snow and I’m praying we don’t get any… Ha! However… Since the fronts move from east to west maybe it’s a good thing. It can store up all of the snow for you as it passes us by! Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!💜
Yes, PLEASE send any snow you don’t want our way! Preferably northern Michigan!! Thank you for stopping by!
Learning to play the drums must be fun! I remember trying when I was in school, it was different but I liked it! Now I’m only into folky music styles and the only drums I like (to listen to) are Irish bodhráns and the likes.
Wait, what is scary boxes? Sounds interesting!
Hi Susanne! Thanks for coming by! I’ll have to check out Irish bodhrans.. This is all new to me but I’m having fun learning.. Scary boxes – I am a horror/true crime junkie and I have two subscription book boxes going, Night Worms and Creepy Crate.. I decided on foregoing one of them for a bit – the books are piling up faster than I can read them. When I shared my blog on my Facebook, a friend referred to them as “scary boxes”. I loved it and the name stuck.. 🙂
OK, I really need to see you drumming now! Glad you’re keeping well–the decluttering looks super!
mydangblog recently posted…Things That Are Like Other Things
Haha, thanks! I’m so self conscious! And I need way more practice before I release a demo vid.. LOL
Leener if you have your Dad’s Memorial while we’re down here we would like to come over that way❤
We’d love that! I’ll email you…
Best of luck with decluttering and drumming. 😀 It sounds like you have your hands full with life, and that’s a lovely thing indeed.
Thank you! Life really is good, considering.. I’m thankful..
