Good morning, my dear friends of the blogosphere! Thanks for stopping by. I hope this Saturday morning finds you well. It’s a soggy Saturday and I just read that thunderstorms are expected this afternoon.
I was planning to go to a museum grand opening today but I’m on the fence. It’s wet, kind of chilly and from the sounds of it, will likely be crowded, as they’ve arranged for shuttle buses to ship people to and from parking at the high school down the road. Bill is coming home today from South Dakota, and I’m thinking I may just go another day with him and skip the crowds.
It’s been a long week without Bill! But I’ve enjoyed the awesome photos he’s texted of our beloved land. As much as I missed him, I was truly so happy he got to get away and visit South Dakota, the land of our dreams, and the growing number of friends we’ve made out there.
Last night I sat by the fire for #feetupfriday and at exactly 9:57pm, started to feel raindrops. Rain was forecasted for 10pm, that is probably the most accurate I’ve ever seen it! It was a gorgeous evening though, breezy and just the right temperature. I saw the first bat of the season, fluttering over my campfire and into the darkness.
The third book in my recent Amazon haul arrived today! Yes.. I think it’s a good day to stay in and read. I didn’t realize Blanky was so short! It’s a novella. I could probably finish it sitting at a traffic light. Do you have your nose in a good book currently?
I just finished The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson last week, and was surprised to find some of the characters rather humorous! I don’t recall that from either movie, the original or the remake. Plus my May Nocturnal Reader’s box arrived this week!! Squeeeeeeeee!! Post coming soon. I immediately dove into one of the included books and it’s been hard to put down.
Well, enough about me, how about you? More coffee?

Hello Kathleen. It’s a pleasure meeting you. I’m new to the group and am enjoying making new friends who share my passion for reading & writing. I really enjoyed your mental snapshot of South Dekota. I believe I”ve only driven through it once with a friend in college.
For books I have 2 favorite Iike to call out; Gone with the Wind (hated the movie but LOVED the book) and Passort by Bruce Herschensen. Is gladly explains why if asked.
I’m a newer blogger and hesitate to even claim this title because I’m much more of a story collector & teller. Following a suggestion of my daughter, I’m recording and sharing short 2000 words or less autobiographical fun pieces of growing up.
If you like wuick reads for laughs; I invite you to sample a few. This has become a really gun passion .
I really enjoyed your coffee visit today and wish you well. Gary
We’re so glad you’ve joined our little caffeinated circle! 🙂 LOL Lots of people say that about SD, “I’ve been through it..” Gone With the Wind is a looooooong book, as I recall, I remember a friend of mine reading it a while back. Passport would be an interesting read! I look forward to following your tales, it sounds like you have lots to share! Again, welcome!
The campfire photo is so inspiring! Are the other photos from South Dakota? I’ve only just passed through SD, during a cross-country trip with my RV 2013.
I’m currently reading a really good book “The Tiger’s Wife”, by Téa Obreht. It’s a novel, but the scenery is from Balkan, and the war there. I grew up with many refuges from that war, and it’s a very interesting read, to get the other side of the story, sort of. The characters are very interesting as well. it’s a debut novel, and you can tell there’s a lot of effort put into it. Thank you for the coffee! Enjoy your weekend 🙂
Yes, we are blessed to have 80 beautiful acres of prairie in northwest South Dakota. It’s truly our favorite place on earth. Wow, that would be an interesting read seeing that you know people that lived it. Thanks for reading!
