Good morning and come on in on this sunny October Saturday! It’s the most wonderful time of the year. For this occasion I’ve gathered up all the spooky mugs I have and all the coffee, tea and cocoa I’ve accumulated from my scary boxes, in addition to, of course, pumpkin spice coffee and some flavor syrups! Take your pick!
My title suggests a pretty interesting week, to say the least, and it was. I made it to Friday after spending the whole week ramping up for this project at work, and showtime is Monday at 1:30pm. I’ll be wrapping up a few things over the weekend but I’m feeling pretty good about it. Any and all good juju would be much appreciated!
Monday it rained and we were treated to a complete rainbow! I couldn’t fit it all in so I took a panoramic. Darn power lines. Neighbors were were out taking photos, and sure enough, my Facebook feed soon became filled with different photos of the rainbow. You can see a second faint rainbow on the outside.
Wednesday I got out to paddle a local lake with a friend of mine, who is also into fall and winter paddling! The weather was not looking like it would cooperate, but as the day passed (and the rain) I caught a glimpse of blue sky on the horizon and would not be deterred. I had recently purchased some warm gear as I really like the idea of fall paddling and I also got to test out my Tractor Supply muck boots.
My feet stayed completely dry and toasty warm in my new wool socks. Wish I could say the same for the rest of us! That’s a whole other blog post! We still had a great time and any chance I get to go out before the snow flies is a treasured day.
Yesterday I took the most wicked storm cloud photo I think I’ve ever captured, and it was with my phone from my upstairs office window. The clouds were pretty dark, but actually not as dark as my phone captured it. It appears that all hell is about to break loose but these clouds only produced a light rain before blowing over.
In gardening news, I’m a bit perplexed by this black bell pepper. It’s supposed to be green. Bill Googled it and found that green peppers are actually black before they mature into green peppers. But this one started black. I found another page that states this is an intermediate phase between green and red, but that is also not the case, as it was black from the start. I had two other green peppers off my four plants but they were green from start to finish. In doing some online research, I may have a purple beauty! I bought a packet of seeds in the spring and I wonder if a different seed got mixed in. Either way, I’ll be harvesting the seeds and attempt to start them next year. This was quite the surprise as I’ve never heard of a black bell pepper. Supposedly they are on the bitter side, so we will see.
So Mother Nature played a decent role in my last week, from clouds to rainbows to getting caught in a downpour to a garden surprise. My upcoming projects include transplanting several of my flowers into the front yard, which is currently bare.
I have a pretty full today today, soon I’m off to visit a Haunted Yard Sale! It’s an outdoor Halloween themed yard sale at a local historic school. This is a totally new event for me so I’m excited to see what’s in store. Then later I scheduled an appointment to donate platelets at the American Red Cross. That will be a long couple hours. At the donation center they are equipped with flat screen monitors with Netflix, so I need to pick something to binge watch tomorrow. And hope my nose doesn’t itch as this will involve both arms.
So what’s new with you? Would you like a warm up? Eclectic Ali’s and join in the conversation!
