coffee

Good Morning. It’s not yet time for patio coffee, but I’m hopeful. Haha, you brought your own thermos. Smart. Have a seat!

This week, I’m sorry to say, has not been good at all. My dad’s health is declining (he’s 93) and with this virus, we can’t be with him in Florida. It’s been a whirlwind of family phone calls and ups and down. Bad news, then a spark of hope, only to be let down again. If you could send up an extra prayer, I’d be so grateful.

I had to put down the book Ghost Rider that I was reading. It’s by Neil Peart, the drummer from Rush who recently passed. I picked it up at a book sale last year. He takes a solo cross country motorcycle road trip across Canada and the United States in the wake of the loss of first his daughter, then not a year later his wife. Needless to say, at this point, it’s too much heartbreak for me. I’ll pick it up again in the future.

So I chose to lose myself in something scary again. I know, how is that more positive? I guess I find comfort in scary. This is another short story book, which I love, revolving around Halloween.

Work has been a welcome distraction as putting together training schedules with timing constraints has required much attention to detail and has kept me busy.  Also, I am hopeful of the talk of opening things up in our world, as it makes sense. I saw an article that states there is no need to wipe down your groceries, after seeing many an article of how to very carefully sterilize everything. Who knows.

On a positive note, I think I may have a tomato!  There are several other things popping up in my cardboard egg carton which I think are weeds since I scooped up dirt out of last years garden (couldn’t buy garden soil!).  But this guy looks different. I tried this with a clip on macro lens with my phone.  Not a great image, but I’ll keep practicing. More to come as they emerge. 🙂

Well, my friends, that’s about the extent of my week.  Come visit our coffee share host, Eclectic Alli, and tell us what’s been going on!  Stay healthy, and please keep my family in your prayers.

  1. Kathleen – you crack me up. Going to a horror book for something more positive. Wow! I don’t read much horror in fact the last one I can recall was the exorcist and that was 45+ years ago. Creepy still that one. But I do enjoy military and space military fiction. Hard science fiction is my favorite

  2. Hi Kathleen, I uttered a short and sincere prayer for your dad as I was in the middle of your post. At this point, I haven’t met my real father and I don’t who he is except for his name. I didn’t know how it feels to have a father but I envied my friends who have their dad’s with them and I admire them so much. Now that I have a family, I perfectly understand how much children years for their father because I can see it with my kids. I never want anyone to lose a father. I hope I would be the last one to experience that. I wish your father well, may he best this fight for your family and most especially for himself.
If you could try to find the movie/documentation The Secret, this is posted on facebook by Priya Dattani, if you could watch this and pick up every reason to hope for the best, this could give you a feel-better feeling and attract a more positive result for your dad. Hope we could chat more. Hopefully the link works: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=443530132858006

By the way, I am new in blogging and I just recently, I made a challenge to myself. I will be visiting at least 10 blogs a day for the next 21 days— (I am not on Day 10). I hope you can support me on this by visiting my blog. I have put your blog link on mine as well.
    I followed your blog too.

    1. Thank you so much Vanessa! I truly believe our thoughts and positive attitude impact our lives. Thank you for stopping by and I look forward to visiting your blog. Welcome to the Weekend Coffee Share!

  3. I’m so sorry to hear about your dad… 😦 Sending good thoughts your way! I tried in the past to grow some tomatoes and I’m blaming the Texas heat on killing them. 😀 Now I’m trying to grow jalapenos. I hope I don’t kill those too. Good luck on yours!
