coffee

Hello and come on in on this beautiful October day. I’m late to the game as usual, but if you’re an all day coffee drinker, I have several varieties. How’ve you been?

I’m happy to say that after a rather long work week, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve made the deadline on two of my three looming projects and I’ve knocked quite a bit off the third, so buttoning that up for the year won’t be as harrowing as I feared (though I shouldn’t say that because you know what happens!).  Also, the extra hours and all the detail spinning around in my brain has caused me again to dream about work almost every night this week. It’s kind of a bummer to put in more than a full day, go to bed, dream about work and then wake up feeling like you’ve worked through the night instead of slept. If I’ve ever needed to meditate, in my life, it’s probably now!  But, at least the worst is behind me.

Yesterday I had a delightful visit from a dear friend and we did our nails for Halloween.

It was nice to see a friend in real life as that doesn’t happen too often. Before because of covid, now since I’m limiting my driving with my bum hip. Her visit is the reason I got off my butt and at least got the dining room decorated for Halloween.

Also – my walls are dark burgundy, not black! LOL

All my stuff is in boxes down from the attic, I’ve just been struggling to get into the spirit. We’ve had some nice fall weather and the colors are popping and it’s hard not to feel like this time of year has been ruined. I try not to lament over what I can’t do (Bitter? Party of one?) but it’s tough when several new amazing events popped up this year, like the witch’s trick or treat SUP paddle a few weeks ago.  People in witch costumes on stand up paddle boards, trick or treating at different stations set up along a local river. (Shut up and take my money! How up my alley does THAT sound??) Or, the sunflower farm not far from us who carved a maze into their cornfield and THEN (!) offered limited tickets for night walks through the corn maze. Saturday, October 9th was the full Hunter’s moon. How cool would it have been to just walk through a corn maze by the light of the full moon??

Sigh.  Lots to plan for next year.

My dear sister sent me these awesome Halloween soaps to cheer me up. They are gracing our bathroom, which also gets decorated for Halloween. Eventually. Maybe I’ll get to some of that today.

Bill has been amazing with doing all the outside work that needs to be done, as I hobble around. Today he’ll be winterizing our travel trailer and moving our snowmobile trailer to a spot in the yard we can get to it more easily once the white stuff falls. I’m PRAYING I can ride this season – it won’t be until February/March of 2023, but the trails remain open until April 1, so there is hope.

Well, the sun is shining and I’m GOING to get my gimpy self outside for a bit, if only to see what I can help Bill with. I hope you’ve had a great week and I’ll be around to check in with you.  I may do a Self Care Sunday post later, as this weekend has been the first in a while that I’ve been able to exhale a bit.

Thank you to Natalie over at Natalie the Explorer for hosting our our Weekend Coffee Share and also on her 6 year blogging anniversary!

  1. How wonderful to get those work projects done! And what fun decorating for Halloween! I must at least take my knitted spiders out. Have no time for more than that – because of my own deadlines.
I’m sorry about your hip pain and how it takes away some of the joy of the autumn season. Here there will be some Halloween festivals happening soon. Nothing like a walk through corn fields though!

    1. Hi Susanne! Thanks so much for stopping by! Yes, I will have a LIST of things for Halloween 2023 and lots to look forward to. And there is still so much joy to find with what I CAN do.

  2. Sounds like you have some interesting Halloween events coming up. We’re decorating our doors here at the facility and inviting the local children to trick or treat. Should be interesting. First time for me since I just moved in here and first for them as well as this is a new facility.

  3. Sounds like you are getting into the Halloween season. Sorry about the “bum hip”. If I understand correctly, you are going to get some work done on it in late winter? Hope you have a great week!

    1. Trying to! Yes, late November is my surgery and I. Cannot. Wait. I hate being so sedentary.. I’m thinking of treating myself to a new treadmill as I’m told they want me to get up and walk as much as possible after surgery. Sign me up! All I want to do is walk..

  4. Hi Kathleen – sorry you’re still gimpy – I had my operation last week and feel like I’m on the road to no longer limping – how amazing that’s going to be! I look forward to seeing all your snow pictures when the time comes (we don’t get snow where I live).

    1. Leanne! How are you? I pray everything went well and you’re on the mend.. Yes, if it’s going to be cold, I want usable snow. (Skiing, sledding, snowmobiling) Otherwise, it’s just cold. 🙂
