coffee

Good morning and come on in!  Brrr.. 24 degrees out there. Come on, Spring! Our sucky weather is the topic of conversation everywhere, it seems. Everyone is so over the cold and the snow. Garden and spring items have been in the stores for weeks yet it’s too frigid to get out and enjoy them. It reminds me of the Bill Cosby skit when the kids are fighting and Claire yells, “I have had enough of thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssss!” The above is a wishful thinking photo – coffee on the patio has to be right around the corner!

Speaking of the patio, if we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m excited to do some reconstruction in the backyard this season. Our current patio is composed of those 2-foot cement “tiles” that were just placed on the ground outside our back door. It’s a pain in the butt to maintain since debris gets caught in between the tiles constantly and the sweeping is never-ending. I tell Bill, a minimum of 10 times per year, “Have I told you how much I hate this patio?”

So! We are having a new cement patio poured, hopefully at the end of this month.  Yay!!  My plan is to take 25 of the tiles and make a 10 x 10 square out in the backyard, placing the firepit in the middle and have enough room for four chairs (I have my eyes on the ones I want, at Lowe’s). I’m hoping we can place the tiles together close enough to avoid the debris problem (right now there is at least an inch of space between each tile). Or perhaps being out in the open, the wind will help to keep it clear. We’ll see how it turns out! This will also involve moving my small garden plot, so that will have to be done before my seedlings go in. They are getting antsy in their current trays.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m back to work this Wednesday, after a nice little 8-week siesta to nurse my newly installed hip, although PT will continue for the month of April. Today I will likely plan everything I want to get done over the next 3 days as I near the end of having all day to get said things done.

So with that said, how was your week?  Would you like a warm up? Of course, you would!  LOL  I meant your coffee.

  1. Returning to work after over 8 weeks? I hope it goes well. 🙂 I also hope Spring is here soon! But we’ve talked about that before haven’t we? I hope you have a great week ahead and enjoy your return to work.

  2. The coffee was delicious! Thank you! I’m excited to be back and have my next cup on your new patio. I love projects like that! It makes such a big difference. I’m fantasizing about a patio I want to create, outside the cabin..that I so far only have in my dreams …the patio is connected to a greenhouse with a foundation of beautiful rocks that I found locally..lol. I did purchase land for it a while back, and I will build it one day, both the cabin, greenhouse, and patio. Maybe when I retire 🙂 It’s good to have goals, right?

    Have a wonderful Sunday!

    1. Hi Maria! That sounds fabulous! You have to see it first in your mind. 🙂 I’m excited for my first Coffee Share from the new patio. I scored the new chairs and cushions yesterday!

  3. Get some of the weed block fabric to put under the concrete blocks. I have quite a bit of slag sand left from doing my paver patio. You can have that.

    1. Ah, thank you!! I do need sand, to level it, don’t I? I can’t wait to get started on this, I already bought new furniture!
