Happy Sunday!  Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Weekend Coffee Share! It’s not yet warm enough for patio coffee, but those days are around the corner. How are you? Grab a chair and let me top off your beverage.

It was a good week! Two concurrent projects at work are reaching the finish line and I’m anxious to start the next. Saturday we started a ceiling repair project which we were able to finish the bulk of. We will continue with the finishing work next weekend.

I’m still amazed at what we accomplished yesterday. We knocked out a huge section of plaster and replaced it with 5/8″ drywall. HEAVY. OMG. I’ll be doing more vacuuming and dusting today. 🙂  Still lots of taping, mudding, sanding, and painting to do but I’m happy we got the hard part knocked out.  In the last week we also had the garage roof replaced and new gutters all around. It’s so nice when home projects are completed and off the list.

My croci emerged! I was glad to see them. On Friday I was chatting with work friends about our flowers popping up and for a brief, horrifying moment, I thought I had placed my rainwater buckets over top of them last fall!  But I had not..  Whew.

Speaking of emerging, so are my seedlings! Well, some of them. The tomato plant seeds my sister sent me are very eager, the others appear to be late bloomers. I also ordered some clear plastic greenhouse tents that I’ll be placing over my garden soon, to keep my seedlings safe from critters and to also shield them from those darn helicopters that fall from my maple trees. We’ll see how that goes.

To welcome spring, we had a vernal equinox campfire Saturday night, as I like to do with each of the season changes, weather permitting. I skipped the winter solstice last year, I remember it was pretty cold and damp. Last night was clear and there were several stars. I got rid of several small evergreens that had sprouted up along our fence line. I shared a pic online and a friend of mine across town posted a photo of his campfire. We had a virtual toast. 🙂

Today I’ll spend this 60 degree sunny Sunday (I know! Isn’t it supposed to be nice during the week and then rain on the weekends? That’s what I’m used to.) transplanting my daylilies from the back yard to the front landscaping under the windows. We ripped out these huge evergreens two years ago so I have a fresh canvas now in which to add plants and flowers. I meant to do this last fall only to Google and learn that it’s best to transplant daylilies in the spring once they start to emerge.

So I must get these creaky old bones moving. Did I mention how HEAVY that drywall was?

Thanks for visiting!  I hope you had a great week and I’ll be by for a warm up shortly.

  1. I love your emerging plants. It reminds me I need to get to work on putting something green outside if I want to see anything this spring/summer. I really enjoyed the campfire as well — I actually sat next to a fire Saturday night. It’s neat to think about how we don’t know each other and yet we were doing similar things under the same sky. I hope your plants continue to do well and enjoy the sunshine while you can!

  2. Your emerging plants and croci are solid proof that spring has arrived, yay! You’re wonder woman to handle the heavy drywall work. I hope you have a relaxing weekend and a great week ahead. Thank you for your #weekendcoffeeshare.
