Good afternoon and a huge THANK YOU to Allison over at Eclectic Ali for taking the Coffee Share baton! It’s a rainy Saturday in Ann Arbor, Michigan and I’m at WordCamp in the Rackham Graduate Building on the U of M campus. Perfect day for all things WordPress. I’m also super happy and excited for my dear friend Kim over at Geeky Marketer, who will be giving one of the talks this afternoon.
This building is OLD, dedicated in June of 1938! The tile, ceilings, even the hardware on the doors and windows. So very cool. My favorite was the water fountain though.
So we’re on lunch and the congregation has broken into lunch groups at various restaurants, except for dorks like me sitting by myself in the “Happiness Bar” where they serve bagels, coffee, etc.
This wet weather is not helping my pain, so walking any distance is just going to cause me more grief later. Plus I’d rather avoid the crowds, the NOISE (OMG!), digest all the notes I’ve taken so far, write this post and catch up with my dear coffee share buds.
I was happy to run into Amit, a fellow blogger friend I hadn’t seen in some time, from Michigan Bloggers. Our Meetup group has been dormant for some time, and we both agreed we’d like to stir it up again. We’ll see. I suck at anything that involves peopling. 🙂
I have a whole hour until the next talk, Jazz & WordPress and 7 more sessions! I’m liking TweetCaster so far. I stopped using a Twitter client for a while, but needed a client for today to follow the #WCa2 hashtag.
So what are you up to on this Saturday afternoon? I hope it’s a nice Fall day where you are. WordPress peeps, is there a WordCamp in your area? If so, I’d highly recommend you check it out if you haven’t. If anything for the cool swag. 😉 Pull the hashtag #WCa2 with your favorite Twitter client and you’ll get all the techy goodness from today.
Have a great week! I’ll be over for a warm up shortly. 🙂

Grab a beverage and join us over at Eclectic Ali’s for the #WeekendCoffeeShare!
We having a Wordcamp Harare Zimbabwe in November: I am one of the speakers and I am so excited but super nervous whoop whoop… busy working on the slides for my presentation.
The coffee bar seems like it has beverages of an intoxicating nature am I right or i need to see a eye doctor lol
Haha! Those were flavored syrups.. It was like going to Starbucks: “Can I just have the closest thing that resembles a normal cup of coffee?” LOL I ended up with a watered down espresso. It was good though. How cool, I can’t wait to hear about your WordCamp!!! What are you speaking on? Thanks so much for reading..
My presentation is Titled A Website Is A conversation and I was pleasantly to surprised when i checked out the hashtag #WCa2 on Twitter that it is similar to the one by Sara Dunn about where websites go to die, but without the zombies ha!

I haven’t attended a Wordcamp ever – might be something to look into at some point!
Honestly, I’d be totally with you just hanging out at the Happiness Bar — when I’ve gone to conventions I’ve learned that I have to chop out little spaces where I can go off and be by myself and do my own thing – otherwise I’m completely useless by the end of the event!
Happy to have coffee with you!!
